This is Alfie at his first birthday cake smash and tub splash photo shoot.
Actually he’s at his second first birthday cake smash and tub splash photo shoot as he was a bit under the weather at his first one and really didn’t want to do it. That happens sometimes – I always recommend rescheduling a session when you know your little one is ill but sometimes you don’t know it right away. When they get to their session they’re out of sorts for seemingly no reason and then the next day they come down with a cold and suddenly it all makes sense.
There’s no way of persuading a baby that’s feeling rough that eating cake and splashing in a bath tub is a good idea so the best thing to do when we’ve exhausted all our tricks to encourage them to do it, is to reschedule and try again a different day. Cling film the cake and just come back to it later. Luckily for us, he was in very fine form when he came back and we definitely celebrated in style!
